Apple has released 2 key updates for its MacBook Pro Retina models this evening. The two updates and the respective bugs they fix are listed below. Anyway, get that update quickly for your MacBook Pro Retina and squash those annoying bugs.
MacBook Pro Retina SMC Update 1.1
The MacBook Pro Retina SMC (System Management Controller) Update 1.1. resolves a rare issue of slow frame rates when playing graphic-intensive games on the 15 Inch MacBook Pro Retina. Besides this, the update also fixes issues with Power Nap, wake from sleep and fan control. The “wake from sleep” bug had annoyed many users by making their 15 Inch MacBook Pro Retina hang for a 3-4 second duration right after the lid was opened or when the computer was woken up from sleep mode.
OSX Update 10.8.3
The OSX Update 10.8.3 fixes minor bugs in the Mountain Lion Operating System. This includes the presence of strange stripe marks across a few applications (initial thought as screen burn). The update also fixes other issues that caused stability, compatibility and performance problems for Mountain Lion users. The OSX Update 10.8.3 also reduces app crashes. Moreover, the issue of 15 inch MacBook Pro Retina being completely locked for 7 seconds (including mouse cursor lock) during Google Chrome usage is also rectified. However, this problem may still persist in some cases as the root of the bug lies with Google Chrome itself, which happens to be using excessive graphics memory (graphics leakage).
