If you are a webmaster, you must know the importance of traffic and its direct relation to increasing your revenue stream.  Now, to get traffic, we could do SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SBO (Social Bookmarking Optimization).  Search Engine Optimization deals with your site being on top of Search Engine’s search list.  SBO, on the other hand, utilizes the power of social sites to get some visitors from social media sites, such as Facebook.

Let’s leave SEO and focus on SBO.  There are a lot social media sites out there, but it is necessary to focus on just a few of them.  It makes the job simpler.  Some of the most popular sites that a webmaster should focus on are Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Google +.

Facebook has the most number of users, so it will be preferable to focus on this site alone.  People from around the world use Facebook.  People use Facebook because they chat with friends and make new friends in the process.   How can a webmaster use it to their advantage?

The first thing that you should do is to create your own business profile.  Ask your friends to like the page and then kindly ask them to help you out to get more likes on the page.  Now, if you are popular, you could make use of your popularity and get your followers to like your page.  However, it does not mean that they would always buy the products that you are selling.  All you can do is to let them know that you have something worth looking at.

If you want to maximize the potential of Facebook to your site, you must know how to get repeated visitors.  Here, are some recommended ways to get frequent visitors to your Facebook business page.

  • Ask them to come back. This is one of the best tactics that many  webmasters can find helpful.
  • Give them a reason to revisit your page.  Have something that would interest them.
  • Ask them about what interests them. This encourages them to participate in return.
  • Create a regular feature. Try to have something that would make them comeback regularly.  It could be an article, a video, or whatever that would interest your customers.  Perhaps, a good way to get the interest of customers is to have the information separated in series.  This tactic would make them come back to your business page so that they read the next series.

Though, if you have many followers, it does not always mean that you have succeeded.  Most of them would not even participate in some of the discussions you have started.  Forget about those who are not interested in the discussion. Just focus on those who are participating because they are the ones that are likely to buy your product. Once that, you have a successful business page on Facebook, you could now post some articles that relate to your product.  A good example of what I have been talking about is LowKick.com.  While they have more than 59 thousand likes, LowKick.com tries to engage their audience by posting articles on their business page.

The same technique can also be applied on other social sites such as Twitter, Pinterest or Google +.  All of these sites had their own share of the market, but it would be best to use one or two social sites so that you could focus on growing them.  Quality is always better than quantity.
